Here in North Georgia it is easy for the topsoil to erode if proper drainage is not implemented. Soil erosion is a gradual process that takes place when water washes away the soil particles causing the soil to deteriorate. In places where heavy water traffic is present this process can happen quickly. Areas prone to major erosion are underneath the gutters surrounding your home if they were to overflow,  at the bottom of each gutters downspout, where water tends to pool until it pours over and the heavy volume washes towards lower areas, or runoff from one area of a property to another. The process of erosion will get worse over time if not properly addressed.
